Welcome to the British home of Vorticism.

The main aim of this site is to provide information about a little-known but highly influencial art movement that flowered for a brief period in London in 1914.

About this site

This site is not a commercial concern, no profit is made. This is an educational website. Where it is not possible to explain in words a feature of the art movement, a picture has been used. This is only for the purpose of demonstrating the details of the art movement. Where the copyright holder of a picture is known, these details are supplied. Where the copyright holder is not known, and you are the copyright holder, please contact me. Please do not make copies of these pictures for non-educational use, or point to the pictures from other websites without checking with me first. The text of the website is copyright, except where otherwise mentioned. Any site is welcome without prior permission to hyperlink to a page of this site (.html record) but not a component (e.g., an image) within the page.

Technical Details

  • The site uses the XHTML Transitional 1.0 standard.
  • Arial Black has been chosen as the main font because it is closest in character to the Stephenson, Blake Grotesque No 9 used in the original manifestos (and will be present on most visitor's PCs or Macs).
  • The background I use on most pages is a repeated tile made from a small scan of the puce cover of an original BLAST.
